ABOUT US

Based in Cameroon, the foundation works to serve local communities, providing the facilities and expertise necessary to make sure that proper dialysis is readily available to those who need it most.
The Fah Kidney Foundation honors the legacy of its founder, Samuel Fah, who was taken too soon by kidney disease due to a lack of adequate care. This shouldn’t have to be the status quo. We should not accept unreliable kidney care. Kidney disease in underserved countries should not be a death sentence.
Let’s work together to create a more equitable and healthier world.

Our mission

The Fah Kidney Foundation, a nonprofit health organization, aims to provide kidney wellness in countries across Africa, starting with Cameroon. We are dedicated to fighting kidney disease by supplying low-cost outpatient dialysis to those with kidney failure. The foundation hopes to improve quality of life in communities that are underserved and underdeveloped.

OUR STORY

The Fah Kidney Foundation was founded by Samuel Fah who passed away from kidney failure due the poor care he had received while in Cameroon. His family helped care for him in the United States for six years. When Samuel traveled to Cameroon, he received two inadequate dialysis treatments and died shortly thereafter, three days before he was scheduled to return to the United States.

FAQs

The first location will be in Bafoussam, then Yaounde and Douala. The hope is to eventually expand to countries across Africa.
When you have chronic kidney disease (CKD) your kidneys can’t filter blood normally. Healthy kidneys work to filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood each day. CKD can be caused by a long-term disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure. Other risk factors include heart disease and a family history of kidney failure. If you have any of these risk factors, it’s important to get checked regularly for kidney disease.

Thank you for your interest in working together to bring reliable kidney healthcare to Cameroon and other countries in Africa. You can visit the “contact” page for more information on how to get involved or donate to the foundation or email [email protected].

The process removes wastes and extra fluid from your blood when your kidneys can no longer function properly. When performed correctly, dialysis can be a life-saving treatment. This is why it’s important to ensure easy access to safe dialysis in all corners of the world.
